CTE300 - Basic Soldering Program
Course Description
This 40-hour course covers the following three basic skills needed to become a solder technician:
Through-Hole Component Recognition
Students will gain basic knowledge to identify through hole components that are used in electronic assembly. The student will also gain knowledge on major through hole component packages their reference designators, markings, orientation, and polarity.
SMT Component Recognition
The objective of this module is to supply students with the knowledge to identify surface mount components that are used in electronic assembly. The student will gain knowledge on major surface mount component packages their reference designators, markings, orientation, and polarity.
Through-Hole & SMT Soldering Training
This module addresses the fundamentals of hand soldering surface mount and through-hole components including soldering materials, heat sources, and their use in creating acceptable solder connections. Also includes information on the care of the soldering iron/tips and solders joint acceptability criteria. Soldering exercises include step-by-step pictorials for the installation and soldering/touch-up of radial, axial, multi-leaded through-hole, chip, gull wing, and J-lead components.
All materials and workbooks are included.
Participants must be physically able to use both hands for forming components and assembling them to circuit boards as well as soldering.
