Course Description

Discover why Binghamton earned the nickname “The Parlor City” on this engaging walking tour of the West Side led by Gerry Smith, former Broome County Historian. This tour highlights the impressive homes, tree‑lined streets, and distinctive architecture that reflect the city’s prosperity during its late‑19th and early‑20th‑century heyday. Along the way, participants will hear stories of prominent families, social life, and the cultural influences that shaped one of Binghamton’s most historic neighborhoods. The tour encompasses several blocks and begins in front of the Roberson Museum & Science Center, 30 Front Street, Binghamton.
