Course Description

This Driver Education course is approved by the New York State Education Department. Successful completion of the course fulfills the requirements for the New York State Driver Education Certificate (MV-285). State regulations require students to meet all attendance requirements and successfully complete the course in order to receive credit for completion.
Please note that the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) now issues Driver Education certificates as permanent digital records. Students will not receive a paper MV-285 certificate.
Instead, successful course completion will be recorded electronically with the DMV.
When scheduling a road test online, students should visit https://nyrtsscheduler.com and use the following information:
- Certificate Number: Student's Permit Number
- Certificate Type: MV-285
- Date of Completion: Last day of class
Upon login, students can select their preferred testing location, date, and time.
In place of a paper certificate, students will receive documentation confirming successful completion of the Driver Education Program. These documents may be submitted to insurance companies as proof of course completion.
Students and parents should check with their individual insurance providers regarding any discounts, benefits, or incentives available to students who complete Driver Education.

Class Attendance
Attendance at all classes is mandatory. Students are permitted one makeup session for an excused absence. A $25 makeup fee will be charged for a missed classroom session or a missed behind-the-wheel driving session. If a student misses both a classroom and behind-the-wheel session, the makeup fee will be $50. The date of the makeup session will be announced at a later time. To report an absence, please contact Continuing Education at 607-778-5012 on the day of the absence.
Student information will be emailed upon registration and will include the required Parent Permission Agreement. This form must be completed and brought to the mandatory parent/student orientation meeting.
Students must be at least 16 years old and possess a valid learner's permit prior to the parent/student meeting.
Enrollment is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Refunds will be accepted through the day following the parent/student meeting.
Please note: Behind-the-wheel driving schedules are subject to change based on enrollment and instructor availability.
